Curator's Tour - Soft Flesh

The soft sculptures range in content and form, from soft guns, webs made from clothing, internal organs, hand tufted rugs, text, and a very hungry caterpillar. 

“This exhibition explores how artists use softness—not as fragility—but as a strategy of resistance and resilience,” says Liz Faust, Director of Exhibitions. “Through tactile and intimate materials, these artists confront the volatility beneath the surface of our flesh—the contradictions, constraints, and power embedded within our bodies.” 

Grounded in the work of scholars such as Angela Davis, Angela Dimitrakaki, and Nizan Shaked, the works interrogate how bodies are constructed, constrained, and celebrated.
